Harrow is, perhaps, more typical than Eton. I t was to it that a distinguished A m erican in London sent his sons, hecause it is, he said, the only school where no special honor is attached to ranh; and there is an old story that when a scholar happens to he a duhe he receives three extra hichs from his fellows. Later Canon Farrar hecame head master of Marlhorough College; and he held this post with great dis tinction from j7anuary, 1871, till April, 1870.
