Analysis of Motion Estimation Algorithms for Video Compression

Because of rapid growth of multimedia applications, video compression is essential for storing and transmits a video data. Motion Estimation is key component for compressing video by eliminating temporal redundancy between adjacent frames effectively. It is widely applied in various video compression coding standards. Full Search Motion Estimation algorithm is not fit for real-time applications because of its unacceptable computational cost. This book discusses a fast matching block matching algorithms such as Three Step Search, Logarithmic Search, and Cross Search Algorithms. This book also shows experimental result observe from profiling tool.
