Arthritis is one of the most common causes of joint pain and physical disability worldwide; including Iraq, Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) and Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) are the two major groups of arthritis characterized by chronic joint inflammation, in which cytokines may have a pathogenic role. Therefore, the present study aimed to determine serum level of 12 cytokines (IL-1 , IL-1RA, IL-2, IL-4, IL-10, IL-12, IL-17A, IL-22, IL-31, IL-33, IFN-Gamma and TNF- ) in JIA and RA patients. A correlation with disease severity and activity, type of administrated therapy and clinical subtypes of JIA was also assessed.

Dr. Hanan Yassin Muhsin is a lecturer at College of Education(Ibn-AL-Haitham), Dept. of Biology, Univ. of Baghdad. She obtained her Master degree in the field of Biotechnology in 2002, and her Ph.D. in the field of Clinical Immunology. She is interested in investigating the immunological impact of Autoimmundiseases.
