Gianni Vattimo, born in 1936 in Turin, is Professor of Theoretical Philosophy at the University of Turin. He has published widely on German philosophers of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, including Schleiermacher and Heidegger. He edits the journal Revista de estetica.
