L'homme aux loups : histoire d'une névrose infantile

En février 1910, un jeune Russe de vingt-trois ans, Sergueï Pankejeff, vient consulter Freud. Il souffre d'une « névrose » extrêmement grave qui le handicape jusque dans les gestes les plus simples de la vie quotidienne. Sa cure, qui va durer plusieurs années, déchaînera la passion des psychanalystes et rendra ce patient immédiatement célèbre sous le nom de « l'homme aux loups ». Écrit alors que Freud est en pleine rivalité avec Jung, ce livre est surtout l'analyse d'un des rêves les plus importants de l'histoire de la psychanalyse, qui débouche sur la thématique de la castration et sur la reconstitution magistrale d'une scène - réelle ou non - à laquelle Pankejeff, alors âgé de dix-huit mois, aurait assisté et que Freud nommera plus tard « scène primitive » : le coït de ses parents, événement incompréhensible sur le moment et source après coup d'une terreur archaïque...
