PISA, 1299
In the great square of the cathedral, Netta lives with her father, the last of the Pisano family of sculptors and stone-carvers.
Netta fears that marriage and motherhood are her fate, but she dreams of being a famous architect like her father. An architect who will solve the baffling mystery of Pisa's leaning tower.
A gorgeous historical novel inspired by an iconic symbol of Italy.

About the author

Mary Hoffman says that two places have shaped her life: Oxford, where she writes, and Italy, which has inspired much of her fiction, including David and Stravaganza. Although history is a passion, Mary is also a much-loved picture book author, best known for Amazing Grace and her Great Big Book collaborations with Ros Asquith. Amazing Grace celebrated its quarter century in 2015 and is still going strong
