Dr. Josephine Phillip Msangi: Over the years, held various teaching and administrative positions at the following Universities: University of Dar-es-Salam, Tanzania; University of Guyana, Guyana, South America; University of Glasgow, Scotland; Kenyatta University, Kenya; Egerton University, Kenya; University of Namibia, Namibia. Also held positions in other professional institutions as follows: Chairman of the Board of Directors, Tanzania Forestry Research Institute (TAFORI); Chairman, International Geographical Union (IGU) National Committee; Member of the Inter-University Council for East Africa; Commonwealth Geographical Bureau (CGB) Management Committee. Member of following professional bodies: Tanzania Geographical Association; International Geographical Union Commission on Marine Geography; Third World Organization for Women in Science and Technology (TWOWS; Women in Science and Technology in Africa Network (WISTAN) World Learning Conservation Network, Southern Africa; Commission on Education and Communication (IUCN). Published 4 books and over 70 professional papers and chapters in peer refereed journals and books.
