Quelques explications spéciales sont nécessaires pour la table des noms géographiques.
Notre premier projet était d'emprunter aux archives et aux bibliothèques des villes citées par Froissart la reproduction des principaux actes qui se rapportent aux narrations du chroniqueur et qui peuvent soit en compléter les détails, soit tout au moins en déterminer exactement la date. Parfois, on trouve à glaner dans les anciens rôles et dans les vieux comptes des notes historiques pleines d'intérêt. Force nous a été de renon cer a ces recherches qui eussent Suspendu pendant plu sieurs années l'achèvement de notre publication.
