In Africa, and Kenya in particular, there is lack of knowledge about religious uses and gratifications of radio. Royal Media Services (RMS) is a private media organization, which houses Mulembe FM (MFM) among others as a vernacular radio station for about five years now targeting Luhya speaking people in Western Kenya. It is important to know the use of MFM Christian programming by Luhya speaking people in Vihiga district of Western Kenya in enhancing spiritual or religious development.

Obed Okech Olenja is a Lecturer at Maseno University, Department of Communication and Media Technology. He has also taught at Kima International School of Theology, department of Communications and Religious studies. He holds a MA from Daystar University.
