Although visitors are often struck by the fortress-like building overlooking the River Sarthe, the Abbey of Saint-Pierre de Solesmes is much more than that.
Solesmes is home to around fifty monks pursuing a spiritual quest that began here over 1,000 years ago. By their daily round of prayer, lectio divina and work, the monks seek God in response to his love. The monastic ideal sketched by the Rule of St Benedict forms the spirit of Solesmes and is what we want to share with you via this booklet.
