The purpose of this study was to describe the ecology of six perennial grasses communities in canal banks habitat in the North Nile Delta region of Egypt and to relate it and its associates vegetation to edaphic conditions. Also, it shed light on the nutritive status of the selected grasses by examining the proximate chemical composition, antinutritional factors (i.e secondary metabolites) and energy values.
