Excerpt from Biography and History of the Indians of North America, From Its First Discovery
IN the preface to the eighth edition, (which will be found upon the next page,) something like a history of the rise and progress of the Boo: or run indians may be seen; in addition to which it may be stated here, that the ninth and tenth editions were merely reprints of the eighth, without either additions or corrections.
The work was an original attempt to bring the events in Indian history under certain heads, which heads were the leaders in the events on the side of the Indians. This plan, although the most difficult probably that could have been chosen, has been well received by the public, which encourages the publishers to continue its publi canon.
