Of john cooper, rope maker, who left Lancaster, England, in 1829, and sailed from Liverpool. He is about 38 years of age, and of dark complexion. When last heard of, which was about 12 months ago, he was in Germantown, Pa. If this should meet his eye, or that of any one acquainted with him, they would confer a great obligation on his anxious friends, by directing a few lines to his brother and sister, William and Dorothy Jones, Germantown, near Philadelphia, Pa. Dec. 19.

About the author

William Goodwin (1756-1836) is both one of the most important and underrated figures in libertarian thought. He has been called the first modern anarchist, the first proper utilitarian, and he was a foundational figure in both socialist and libertarian theory. Despite his significant contributions to philosophy, history, and social theory, Godwin is best remembered as husband to feminist author Mary Wollstonecraft and father to Mary Shelley.
