Dans le genre de figures que je rappelle ici, le peuple de Paris a excellé de tout temps, et alors surtout qu'il n etait pas encore gâté par la lecture des journaux écrits, dit-on, pour son plaisir et pour son instruction. Il y a bien profité sans doute; le malheur est que non seulement Paris, mais toute la France en ont payé la folle enchère. Depuis qu'il fait ses études sous de pareils maitres, il a à peu près oublié ses ancien nes métaphores; il ne fait plus que des mots.
