Il avait en plus de cette faculté une autre que tous les autres animaux n'avaient pas Dari avait un esprit vif. Il était rusé. C'était un personnage tantôt cruel, tantôt serviable. Vous le connaîtrez mieux en écoutant les tables que l'on raconte chez nous le soir quand la chouette a hululé, quand la bise fraîche se faufile entre les branches des arbres et que la lune brille de tous ses éclats au milieu des étoiles au firmament.
