Excerpt from Contes Tjames
Les Tjames (chams, Quiames, Ciampois), peuple dont le passé historique ne nous a été jusqu'ici connu que par les annales annamites, forment deux groupes principaux, habitant l'un le Binh Thuan, l'autre le Cambodge. Entre ces deux groupes sont dispersés de nombreux villages peuplés par des individus de race plus ou moins pure et dont les dialectes paraissent au moins fortement mêlés de tjame, s'il faut en juger par les vocabulaires rapportés par les voyageurs.
