Azoreductase is a oxidoreductase enzyme with the molecular weight of 60Kd. It is a NADH/NADPH-dependent, oxygen sensitive, soluble cytosolic enzyme responsible for degradation of azo dye Reactive Red BL azo dye. It was produced in Submerged fermentation (SmF) by using locally isolated bacterium Alcaligenes sp. AA09. In present study azo dye was found to be almost completely mineralized and the mineralized product were found to be non-toxic for plants.

Mr. Ajay Kumar Pandey is currently working as research scholar in Department of Biotechnology, MNNIT, Allahabad, India. He is M.Tech. in Biotechnology from SRM University, Chennai. He has worked as Assistant Professor in NIT, Raipur, Chhattisgarh from 2010 -2013. His research interest is Enzyme Technology, Biofuels and Bioprocess Technology.
