According to the federal Food Drug and Cosmetic (FD&C) Act cosmetics are defined as "articles applied to the human body for cleansing, beautifying, promoting attractiveness, or altering the appearance without affecting the body's structure or functions". Among cosmetics body lotions hold a very prominent place. Body lotions are responsible for protecting skin against pathogens, regulating its temperature and also as a source of vitamins.Body lotions are mostly applied for skin problems like rashes, dryness and those who want to keep their skin nourished, hydrated and fresh. For those people who especially work in harsh environment and have sensitive skin need to keep their skin hydrated. For this purpose body lotions; moisturizers and cleansing milk are a good choice. They help to keep the skin hydrated and supple.

About the author

I have recently graduated in Biotechnology. I have conducted research on utilizing gamma radiation for making various body lotion products safe for human use. I have been a regular participant in science model and debate competitions throughout my academic carrier. I am also 2nd prize holder in inter collegiate Science poster competition.
