This book described the emergence and spread of antibiotic resistant bacteria, particularly Vibrio sp., has resulted in difficult to treat infections that pose great impact on the aquaculture and fishery industry. Therefore, it is vital to search for more effective and environmental friendly alternatives to handle the problem. Streptomyces is a prolific producer for many bioactive compounds, including antibacterial compounds against Vibrio sp. Therefore, this book provides insights on the distribution of the Streptomyces with anti-Vibrio activity from diverse geographical locations. Provide insights on the effects of different fermentation parameters on the production of bioactive secondary metabolites. Also highlighting several bioactive compounds with anti-Vibrio activity identified from Streptomyces. Thus indicating Streptomyces can be a great source for anti-Vibrio agents to control vibriosis. Furthermore, the potential of Streptomyces as probiotic for vibriosis prevention in aquaculture was also evaluated. The authors hope this book could serve as a high quality reference to students and researchers dealing with bioprospecting of antimicrobial metabolites from bacteria.
