About the author

John McGarry is Professor of Political Studies at Queen’s University, Canada, and Canada Research Chair in Nationalism and Democracy. His publications include include The Future of Northern Ireland (1990), and The Politics of Ethnic Conflict Regulation (1993, both co-edited with O'Leary) and Explaining Northern Ireland (1995, co-autored with O'Leary).
