Studies have projected the number of adults with diabetes mellitus cases to rise from 135 million in 1995 to 380 million in the year 2025. Most of this increase will occur in sub-Saharan African countries like Nigeria. Coupled with the problem of the rising prevalence of the disease is the poor management practices such poor health seeking behaviour and non-adherence to both dietary and medication treatment. This book will highlight the firsthand management practices by type-2 diabetes mellitus patients in a semi-urban setting such as the study area. I have no doubt that the findings from the study will be of benefit to public health professionals worldwide especially those interested in the management of chronic diseases.
