This book deals with analytical,epidemiological and socio-geographic studies of the relationship of several forms of thyroid dysfunction and their relationship to functioning of major organs of the body ,in particular liver and kidney.The book begins with a readable introduction to thyroid hormones,problems arising dysfunctions according to gender and age groups ,effect on serum lipids profile etc. The second chapter describes the basic methods ,patient selection and analytical methods for preparing samples and assaying levels of thyroid stimulating hormone,thyroxine,triiodothyronine, cholesterol, triglycerides, high and low density lipoproteins, creatinine and alanine amino transferase. The Third chapter presents the detailed analysis of the results in the form of well presented tables, and figures. These are then discussed presenting a careful analysis of the results, correlations and comparison with previously reported studies. The whole project is than summarized in a short but informative conclusion section ,along with a summary of limitations and some suggestion for further work.
About the author
The author is currently teaching Biochemistry at Jinnah college for women University of Peshawar, has a masters degree preceded by an M.Phil and Ph.D degree majoring in Thyroid dysfunction, Articles published in various scientific journals. She aspires to do her postdoctoral in thyroid diseases, She is residing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.
