This is the first of Lonely Planet's annual anthologies of travel writing, celebrating true tales by great writers from all over the world.
Writers range from big names - in 2016 that includes Richard Ford, Cheryl Strayed and TC Boyle - to up-and-coming authors and extraordinary pieces by non-fiction specialists.

About the author
Don George hat über siebzig Länder bereist. Er arbeitet als Reiseredakteur bei Lonely Planet, der Bibel für Globetrotter in der ganzen Welt, und hat mehrere Anthologien zusammengestellt. Don George verantwortet die preisgekrönte Internet-Kolumne "Traveller at Large" aufwww.lonelyplanet.com. Er lebt mit seiner Familie in San Francisco.
Pico Iyer, Sohn indischer Eltern, wurde in England geboren. Er wuchs in Kalifornien auf, bis er zum Studium nach Großbritannien zurückkehrte. Inzwischen lebt Pico Iyer, wenn er nicht gerade auf Reisen ist, in Japan. Er bezeichnet sich selbst als "global village on two legs".
