The gender ideology reflects the existing gender inequalities and also influences gender-based behaviour, which, in turn, helps sustain gender ideology. It is this vicious circle which disseminates gender issues. The specific importance is the insights on values of women, while their orientations have an impact on how they are socialize their children. Furthermore, on condition that women accept the supremacy of men, they would not resist patriarchal sight and deeds, which put them at a disadvantage in every step of her life. The roots of health inequalities are many, interconnected and complex. In line with socio-biologist, the health inequalities being linked to genetic and biological differences, social variables have been identified as a source of health inequalities. The analysis would help to have deeper insight with regard to the inequity in health care and provoke new ideas for further research.

Dr S. Sampath Kumar is teaching sociology for post graduate students and supervising doctoral research at Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu,India. He is specializing in gender studies and sociology of Education, very specifically gender inequity in health.
