Tel est l'enjeu de cette recherche collective consacrée à la Grèce, à son histoire et à sa situation aujourd'hui, d'un point de vue artistique (arts visuels, littérature, cinéma), historique et politique. Composé d'entretiens, d'oeuvres et d'essais inédits, cet ouvrage livre une matière dense et riche d'une grande variété. S'interrogeant sur la question grecque, il s'ouvre à l'actualité du monde et de l'art. A l'initiative d'Emmanuel Saulnier, qui a initié et dirigé ce livre avec le soutien de Pierre-Alexis Dumas, artistes, historiens, critiques, écrivains, cinéastes, grecs et français s'y sont engagés. Ou comment le mouvement vers la Grèce de jeunes artistes des Beaux-arts de Paris ouvre le dialogue et nous emmène dans une Grèce contemporaine.

Such is the challenge of this group research project dedicated to Greece, its history and its present situation, considered from artistic (visual arts, literature, cinema), historical and political viewpoints. The book's dense and richly varied content is composed of hitherto unpublished interviews, works and essays that, in examining the Greek issue, embrace what is currently happening both in art and the world at large. Greek and French artists, historians, critics, writers and film-makers were all enlisted in this project thanks to Emmanuel Saulnier, its instigator, who initiated and oversaw this publication with the help of Pierre-Alexis Dumas. We discover how the Greek voyage made by the young artists from Saulnier's workshop at the School of Fine Arts in Paris served to establish contact and open up the debate, leading us on a journey through contemporary Greece.
