Motor imagery is a high level process which however manifests itself in the activation of those same cortical circuits that are normally involved in the movement execution. Reports have described the contribution of motor imagery practice for improving upper-extremity functions in patients with hemiparesis following stroke.Previous case reports also suggest that motor imagery is useful for the enhancement of walking ability in patients following stroke. And also imagery training can be considered as a useful option for restoration of ambulation for individuals with chronic hemiparetic stroke who are unable to participate in physical gait training Imagery practice should focus on its specific impairments during gait in order to affect the performance of the paretic lower extremity with conventional therapy. Motor imagery program can be given together with conventional therapy to improve gait in stroke subjects and it can be done easily as it takes less effort and gives motivation to the subject for performing tasks.
