Fashion Patternmaking Techniques Haute Couture [Vol 1]

Haute Couture Models, Draping Techniques & Decorations

Haute couture is a unique part of the fashion world.

And by extension, patternmaking for haute couture is a special activity. The magic, the luxury, the use of unusual materials and the great designers' creative freedom must be accompanied by utmost rigour and skill on the patternmaker's part. Fashion Patternmaking Techniques - Haute Couture [vol.1] focuses on all of the essential elements that a competent professional must understand and master. The book pays special attention to techniques for creating pleats, gathers, ruffles and other adornments that are at their most complex and sophisticated in the field of haute couture. In addition, it features sections on fundamental areas such as patterns and elaboration techniques for transparent fabrics, silk, lace and sequins. Draping on the model and textile painting are subjects that are closely linked to this type of patternmaking, and the essentials of them have their own chapters in the book.
The volume is complemented by a section on technical concepts that presents the fundamentals of pattern design with 3D CAD and virtual measurements. This is therefore a comprehensive and essential work for those who wish to understand this supremely artisan and traditional activity that is also modern and open to the future.
