About the author
Die Tochter des amerikanischen Lyrikers Conrad Aiken kam am 4. September 1924 in England zur Welt. Nach ihrem Studium in Oxford arbeitete sie bei der BBC, dann als Bibliothekarin, Redakteurin und Werbetexterin. Seit 1953 sind rund 60 Bücher von ihr erschienen, darunter neben Kriminalromanen auch Liebes- und Familienromane sowie Geschichten für Kinder. Joan Aiken lebte bis zu ihrem Tod am 4. Jan. 2004 abwechslungsweise in der englischen Grafschaft Sussex und in New York. 1999 ist sie zum MBE (Member of British Empire) ernannt worden für ihre Verdienste um die Kinderbuchliteratur.
Summary
In the small town of Pennygaff, the legendary Harp of Teirtu is found - and lost again. For young Owen Hughes and his friend Arabis, it is the start of a hair-raising race to save the harp from sinister Lord Malyn.
