About the author










Julie C. Lowell earned a B.A. degree from Ohio Wesleyan University in humanities in 1967, a M. Ed. degree from Boston University in education of the deaf in 1969, and a Ph.D. degree from the University of Arizona in anthropology in 1986. Dr. Lowell is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls.
