Organized crime in Albania and some of the Balkan Region countries has been identified as a serious threat to democracy, rule of law, respect for human rights as well as economic development. The magnitude of the threat is as such that it may put into question the security and stability of Albania and some of the Balkan Region countries, as well as their integration into the European Union. This book will outline how organized crime impacts the economic development and security of Albania and some of the Balkan Region countries. The level of security in the country, contributes directly to the level of economic development and prosperity, as well as is a condition for the integration of Albania into the European Union. This book will also argue how organized crime, economic development and security are inter-dependent on one another. These three factors are decisive for the stability and prosperity of a country, which in turn means that the stability and prosperity are in right relation with the security situation and in inverse relation with the level of organized crime.
