A 3,000 mile motorcycle journey around the coast of Great Britain including Land's End and John O Groats during the wettest June on record, 2007. The author faces strong opposition from his wife for having bought a new bike and daring such an adventurous trip at his age: hence the title. Dave does it anyway. He describes his life since childhood and up to that point in a series of flashbacks that he reflects upon in every chapter, as well as the high and low points of the current journey.The reader does not know if Dave will still be happily married when he gets back.
