Paris-Austerlitz

The narrator of this story, a painter from Madrid, recalls the steps that have led to the last journey of his relationship with Michel. Michel, the man who took in this painter to his home, to his bed, and in his life when this youngster became homeless in Paris. Michel is now dying.

About the author

Rafael Chirbes, geboren 1949 in Tabernes de Valldigna bei Valencia, studierte in Madrid und lebt heute als freier Publizist in Beniarbeig bei Alicante. Früh verließ er den Ort seiner Kindheit und lebte in verschiedenen Städten Spaniens, u.a. in Salamanca, Madrid und Barcelona, später einige Zeit in Paris und in Marokko. Obwohl seine Liebe der Literatur galt, studierte Chirbes in Madrid Neuere Geschichte. Daneben interessiert er sich für Film, Malerei und Architektur und arbeitete zunächst als Literatur- und Filmkritiker für verschiedene Zeitschriften, u.a. lange Jahre für das Reise- und Gourmetmagazin Sobremesa. Rafael Chirbes verstarb im August 2015.
