Since the first edition, the substance abuse prevention field has significantly changed. This book will provide the student with an new orientation to the changing field of substance abuse which includes three sections; Part I ¿ the changing face of prevention knowledge; Part II - the changing face of prevention workforce; and Part III ¿ the changing face of the prevention community. The approach of the proposed textbook will be to link science to practice, preparing both undergraduate and graduate students to work in the field of substance abuse prevention and to successfully pass the IC&RC (International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium) prevention certification examination. This book is multidisciplinary because it pulls theories from a number of fields including psychology, counseling, sociology, and public health.
