Depuis plusieurs décennies, les institutions de formation des pays émergents désirent évoluer vers une meilleure intégration pédagogique et une pertinence contextuelle dans la conception des programmes d'études théologiques. On assiste en outre à une prise de conscience croissante du rôle que devraient jouer les facultés de théologie dans la vision et la pratique des églises locales.
Le Séminaire baptiste arabe au Liban s'est engagé depuis 2008 dans une conception et une mise en oeuvre d'un programme d'étude intégré et adapté à son contexte. Tirant des leçons de cette expérience et du débat plus large ayant lieu actuellement dans l'enseignement supérieur, "Transformer la formation théologique" fournit des fondements théoriques et des principes pratiques pour la conception réfléchie de programmes d'étude, ainsi que des outils pour un apprentissage intégral et sensible au contexte local.
About the author
PERRY SHAW serves as Global Consultant for Local Leaders International and is author of Transforming Theological Education (Langham Global Library, 2022). Prior to moving to Australia, Perry and his family served from 1990 to 2019 in the Middle East. During the 1990s, he helped to establish extension centres in Syria for the PTEE (the Programme for Theological Education by Extension). He then taught at the Near East School of Theology, Beirut, during the early years of the millennium, joining the faculty of the Arab Baptist Theological Seminary, Beirut in 2007, where he served as professor of education and academic dean. While at ABTS, Perry was closely involved in the development of their highly innovative curriculum, while also becoming increasingly involved in international consultancy for theological education. Perry has authored a number of TEE texts, and also published numerous articles in the fields of theological education, intercultural studies, and Christian leadership.
