Report

"Sibilla Aleramo was the first feminist writer in Italian Literature, yet little research has been done on her works. Anna Grimaldi Morosoff fills this void in English with an elegantly written study of superb scholarship and solid theoretical mastery. Morosoff puts aside previous transparent readings of Aleramo's novels to concentrate instead in studying them as different facets of a dynamic, continuously evolving self-portrait. This is a welcome addition to the growing fields of literary self-portraiture, women studies, and feminism in Italian letters." (María A. Salgado, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill)
