In the African nation of Sierra Leone, the civil war destroyed standard of living amongst it citizens for years. Schools, roads, and even national institutions have been destroyed due to the years of civil unrest and destruction due to the war between government and rebel forces that aims to control the whole country. It is evident that in the process of a war and civil unrest , one significant factor has been attributed to all of these problems. The diamond resources of Sierra Leone play a big part on the escalation and development of the civil war in the country. Due to the vast diamond resources in Sierra Leone, various groups have used such materials to fund the process of war within the country. In this situation, diamond resources have played a significant parts towards the destruction of the country. With diamonds becoming a significant commodity in the international market, it becomes reason for the conflict due to interest in making use of the diamond resources of Sierra Leone. The devastation of the economy is one of the most severe problems that hamper the provisions of civil service and the development of the quality of life among Sierra Leone citizens.
