The objective of the book is to analyze the origin, development and implication of Article 356 in the Indian Constitution's perspectives. Chapter one is an introductory discussion of President's Rule under Article 356. Chapter two is a background of Article 356 of the Indian Constitution. Chapter three embodies constitutional provisions in case of failure constitutional machinery in the States along with a short review of the literature. Chapter four contains the grounds and consequences of invocation of Article 356 and Chapter five deals with role of Judiciary to analyze the provision under Article 356 to the need of time. Chapter six is an analysis of emergency governance in different countries and chapter seven contains a detail list of invocation of President Rule in different time and States. As usual Chapter eight sum up the issues by providing concluding observation.

About the author










Mrs. Mala moni Mahanta Borah did her Masters in Law from Gauhati University in 2014 along with the Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Application. The author is a practicing lawyer and also participator in a number of socio-legal seminars.
