About the author

Dino Buzzati, geboren 1906 in San Pellegrino bei Belluno, gehörte zu den originellsten Autoren des 20. Jahrhunderts in Italien. Ab 1928 arbeitete er als Berichterstatter, Redakteur und Sonderkorrespondent für den Corriere della Sera in Mailand, wo er 1972 starb. Seinem Debüt "Die Männer vom Gravetal" (1933) folgten zahlreiche und sehr erfolgreiche Romane und Erzählungen.
