Cucumbers are extensively refined plants belonging to family cucurbitaceae. They are ranked fourth among vegetables. They are highly susceptible to contamination through microorganisms. They are habitant to tropical regions. There are about 30 species of cucumis in Asia and Africa.They have enormous medicinal uses. They are also being used in cure of different diseases like hepatitis, bronchitis, eye disorders etc. The mash of cucumbers can be used in treatment of piles, leprosy, dropsy etc. Cucumbers are vital source of moisture content, vitamin C content and show enormous antioxidant activity.

Sana Dar has obtained her bachelor's degree from Lahore College For Women University in year 2015. During her study, she has conducted several symposiums and exhibitions. Recently, she has conducted research on effect of gamma radiation on proximal value and shelf life of cucumbers. This research has potential to boost up the economy of Pakistan.
