Agricultural research, till now, has been primarily concerned with increasing crop yields by the use of fertilizers, pesticides, irrigation, better management coupled with variety development and genetic improvements. Little attention has been given to control of the biological processes (such as germination) that limit crop productivity .The author feels that a further yield increases are definitely possible, as observed in the present investigations, by the use of simple seed treatments such as presoaking in water, PGRs or DPJ.
