Homero sea que haya existido un poeta de es te nombre, sea que las obras que se le atribuyen no ofrezcan mas que una compilacion de las tradi ciones de la Grecia, nos ha dejado en la Odisea la relacion de un viaje, y nos transmite tambien las ideas que en aquella primera antiguedad se tenian sobre la configuracion de la tierra, que segun ellas representaba un disco rodeado por el rio Océano. Esta misma es la cosmografia de Hesíodo.
