Many art forms and genres had thrived in Kerala affluently, and a lot of disciplines as well. When we ponder over an area of knowledge, the discourse on its origin, arrival, survival and influences that had exerted comes inevitable. My research concerns the Urdu language, one of such discipline, in the context of Kerala. It is abundantly clear that the collaborative ventures of zamorins, adversaries of British rule and proponents of Urdu language helped Urdu set foot in Kerala. Moreover, the discussion on Urdu language brings the Arakkal dynasty forth to be analysed. My research accounts the genres of Urdu language, namely, Urdu poetry, Gazal, Magazines, translations and Hindustani music. Further, it develops through the biographical accounts of noted bulwarks that contributed abundantly for the nourishment of Urdu language and provides cultural aspects; Urdu had gained, in the books of schools and publications in Kerala.
