Vzryv soprovozhdalsya global'nym vozmushheniem ionosfery bolee znachitel'nym, chem pri samyh bol'shih solnechnyh buryah. Vzryv bomby vyvel iz stroya polovinu vseh sputnikov, nahodyashhihsya na nizkih orbitah, v tom chisle i pervyj kommercheskij sputnik Telestar ¿ 1. Ni odna iz sushhestvujushhih v to vremya teorij ne mogla ob#yasnit' ukazannye yavleniya.
