The origins of the Revell company go back to 1941 when a former electrician engineer : Lewis « Lew » Glaser, created a toy and hobby distribution company called Precision Specialities.
Lewis Glaser had begun his professional life at 17, as a radio repair man and one year later, in 1938 he had opened his own shop. He switched to toy manufacturing in 1942. The company's first adress was Ocean Park Avenue, Venice, California, but by the end of the decade it had moved to its world famous Glencoe Avenue location. The original kit connection came from a company called Gowland and Gowland which operated from Goleta - a suburb of Santa Barbara - Gowland and Gowland had been created by Jack Gowland, a former British art teacher and Lawrence Watts, another Britton who was partner in a theatrical costuming firm...
