Excerpt from Legal Lore: Curiosities of Law and Lawyers

The favourable reception given to my volume issued under the title of "The Lawyer in History, Literature, and Humour," has induced me to prepare, on similar lines, the present hook. dealing with curiosities of the law. I hope those who are interested in the study of the byways of literature may find entertainment and instruction in its pages, and that it will win a welcome not only from the legal profusion, but from the reading public.

I am enabled by the courtesy of Messrs. Chatto & Windus, to reproduce for my frontispiece, an illustration from a work published by them, under the title of "Credulities Past and Present."
