After the end of the two World Wars, two important and crucial issues were the main concerns of the whole international community. The first issue was the maintenance of international peace and security which represents the major function of the Security Council. The second matter was to put an end to the most egregious crimes that ever human beings have ever experienced which is, currently and primarily, the main responsibility of the ICC. In fact, many attempts have been made by the UN to take an effective step towards creating a permanent international criminal tribunal.

About the author










Dr. Farid studied his BA in law (2004), at Aleppo University, Syria. He completed his LLM in International Law and Criminal Justice in 2010, and PhD in International Criminal Law, in 2015 at the University of East London (UEL), UK. He is a member of staff of the Centre of Human Rights in Conflict, at UEL.
