Excerpt from The Epistles of St. Paul to the Corinthians: With Critical Notes and Dissertations
IN many respects every commentary on the Epistles of St. Paul must traverse the same ground, and pursue the same plan. But, partly as a justification of enter ing afresh on a field so often trodden, partly as an ex planation of the design of this work, it may be advisable brie¿y to state the peculiarities of the Apostle's argument generally, and of these two Epistles in particular, which I have endeavoured to bear in mind.
