Board and other friends urged me to write a book on the Lao Mission. Then there appeared Mrs. L. W. Curtis' interesting volume, The Laos of North Siam, much to be commended for its accuracy and its valuable information, especially in view of the author's short stay in the field. But no such work exhausts its subject.
