Excerpt from The Conquest of Scinde, Vol. 2: A Commentary; Campaign in Scinde and Treatment of the Ameers
The reader has seen how unfortunately my previous efforts to save the Ameers of both pro vinces were frustrated: it now becomes my pain ful duty to show, that although I eventually failed to avert hostilities, my want of success is wholly attributable to two causes for which I am not re sponsible the one, the withholding from me those powers with which I ought to have been invested.
