Learning is connecting something old with something new. Something old refers to the knowledge we already possess and something new represents the information we are exposed to for the first time. When we are exposed to a new language, we automatically learn it from the point of view of the language(s) we already know. In this study, we explore the different ways background languages influence the acquisition of a new language.

About the author

"Born in France from Moroccan parents, I am part of this second generation immigrants from Africa. Being raised speaking Berber and French, having learned English and Spanish in school, I became interested in languages early.
